A production line is a set of sequential operations used in a factory. Materials move from one station to the next until the desired product is completed. Products which may be made on a production line include bottle drinks, packaged foods and baked goods. Similar to a production line is an assembly line.
An assembly line is a manufacturing process in where the parts are added in sequence until the final assembly is produced. The parts moves from workstation to workstation until each section reaches its desired stage of completion. Machines are used to move the parts to the assembly work and move the semi-finished assembly from work station to work station. A finished product can be assembled faster and with less labor than by having workers carry parts to a stationary piece for assembly.
Assembly lines are common methods of assembling complex items such as automobiles and other transportation equipment, household appliances and electronic goods.
